Startup Support Lab is a facility dedicated to strengthening Shibuya's startup ecosystem and creating an urban environment where challenges spark a chain reaction. Within Japan's startup market, structural challenges such as uneven funding distribution, immature M&A practices, and insufficient connections with overseas investment have created an environment where companies possessing technological capability and potential struggle to scale effectively. Startup Support Lab will revitalize Shibuya's startup ecosystem through institutional design, regulatory easing, and fostering collaboration.
By clarifying the mechanisms of capital circulation and institutional bottlenecks, designing an environment where appropriate support reaches startups at each growth phase, and reviewing regulations and systems, we will establish an urban environment conducive to entrepreneurial endeavor.
Revitalizing the ecosystem requires collaboration with domestic and international investors, universities, major corporations, and local authorities. The Startup Support Lab will establish mechanisms enabling overseas talent and investors to connect naturally with Shibuya-based companies and universities. By fostering an environment conducive to deep tech and cross-disciplinary startups, it will evolve Shibuya into an international hub for startups.
Startup support requires not one-off measures but continuous evaluation and improvement. We will devise a governance model that fosters high-quality innovation on an ongoing basis by comprehensively assessing the actual state and growth potential of businesses, supporting their endeavors, and simultaneously examining mechanisms to ensure the overall health of the ecosystem.

Shibuya Startups aims to build a global startup ecosystem in Shibuya. We support startups from around the world that leverage Japan’s strengths and address social challenges by facilitating their entry into the Japanese market.
