1. Project Overview
This project aims to collect data and implement safety measures in the area surrounding Shibuya Station, where public drinking has become a nuisance. The objective is to devise measures that provide a safer and more comfortable environment for local residents.
2. Background and Recognition of Issues
Public nuisance caused by drinking on the streets around Shibuya Station has become entrenched, leading to escalating problems of litter and noise pollution. An ordinance prohibiting drinking in public places year-round came into effect on 1 October 2024. However, individuals continue to drink on the streets, necessitating nightly patrols.
It was decided to explore new solutions by employing startup innovation, while also enhancing the efficiency of existing security measures through collaboration with the existing countermeasures team.
3. Implementation
This project plans to conduct the following demonstrations:
- Utilizing behavior recognition AI to assess the current situation regarding street drinkers and enhance security efficiency
This demonstration will be conducted with the cooperation of the Shibuya Centre Shopping District Promotion Association.
Security cameras will be installed on streetlights around Shibuya Station to detect street drinkers.
By sharing this information—processed to obscure faces—with patrol teams in real time, the number of street drinkers shall be reduced, and the efficiency of security operations improved.
- Supporting Social Distancing Appeals Using Neuro Music
Neuro music will be produced and played through speakers installed around Shibuya Station to encourage social distancing.
