Nine Startups Selected for Next S-Startups Cohort

As part of Shibuya City’s Shibuya Startup Support initiative, the Shibuya Innovation Institute (SII) conducted recruitment for the third cohort of its startup certification program, "S-Startups".

Once again, we received applications from startups with diverse backgrounds characteristic of Shibuya. Following rigorous screening from the highest number of applications to date, the following nine companies have been selected as the third cohort of S-Startups certified companies.

Guided by the program's mission to foster an environment where startups can boldly pursue challenges to revitalize the Shibuya community, we will provide tailored support aligned with the individual needs of each certified company.

Introducing the 3rd Cohort

iiba

iiba operates a map platform for families with children, visualizing parent-friendly locations and experiences through word-of-mouth reviews and videos. We collaborate with local authorities and businesses to advance childcare DX, and strive to broaden the choices available to families with children and build sustainable local systems.

CrestLab

We operate ANICRA, an AI-powered anime production service, as well as an anime studio enabling production with minimal staff. We dramatically enhance production efficiency and establish a new creator-led IP creation model. Working alongside Shibuya's ecosystem, we drive digital transformation in anime production to build a new creative production foundation capable of competing globally.

Crossmedicine

We are a university-spinoff venture founded by our CEO during his student days. We have developed Awa Baby, an app that uses our proprietary AI technology to identify why babies are crying. Nearly 2,000 new users discover us organically each month without advertising, with over 20,000 users currently utilizing our service. As a baby's cry is a universal language, we will use our S-Startups selection as a springboard to develop our service globally from Shibuya.

Seconare

Founded by a former general contractor, Seconare draws upon its founder's practical experience as a site supervisor to develop a site-specialized coordination platform that handles scheduling tasks. This promotes construction DX originating from the site, enabling anyone to utilize the expertise of seasoned professionals and allowing supervisors to focus on their core engineering duties.

We are deeply honored by this accreditation. We aim to deliver our product, honed on challenging sites in Shibuya, to more site supervisors and transform the construction industry as a whole.

TRULY

TRULY is a healthcare startup dedicated to addressing hormonal challenges for both women and men, championing the vision of turning menopause into an opportunity for positive change. With its network of specialists, TRULY actively pursues business co-creation and service partnerships with corporations, integrating hormone testing, consultations, and educational content.

Inspired by the support from S-Startups, we will further accelerate new encounters and co-creation, striving to realize a society where everyone can speak positively about physical and mental changes.

Parakeet

Japan's entertainment industry is highly regarded globally and has now become a key pillar of the nation's economy. Using two entirely in-house generative AI systems—real-time speech conversion Paravo and text-to-speech synthesis Paratts—we operate across three business areas: communication support services, audio advertising, and voice dubbing.  Through the power of speech synthesis AI, we aim to create a new entertainment economy and drive its global expansion.

MidoriQ NbS

MidoriQ NbS supports the optimization of natural spaces and human wellbeing through Spatial AI and 3D technology. We provide a comprehensive solution, from automated planting design and environmental/wellbeing assessments to the automation of natural environment surveys and management using satellites, drones, and robots. Since our founding, we have aimed to create a Japanese-born urban model that enriches the globe. We look forward to contributing to Shibuya's wellness-focused urban development and disseminate this Shibuya-born model worldwide.

MIRAERA

Our mission is to redefine occupational medicine with our product “Industrial Physician NEO," a companion-style occupational physician service supporting the health of working people and corporate growth.

With our S-Startups certification, we will base our operations in Shibuya City—home to a top-tier concentration of companies in Japan—and focus our support on the mental health of startups and venture companies.

What is Shibuya Startup Support?

Shibuya Startup Support is an initiative spearheaded by Shibuya City to invite domestic and international start-up businesses to Shibuya, encouraging them to embark on adventures and grow together within the district. Shibuya is a cultural hub that continues to lead Japan's art, music, and fashion scenes. It is also Japan's technology center, home to over 2,000 startup offices and more than 100 coworking spaces.

SII is a collaborative organization involving industry, government, academia, and citizens, aiming to create unique innovation for Shibuya through startup support and project assistance/execution.
